Michael Browne, Principal
Dr. Browne has served in the educational field for 20 years and this school year marks his 19th year in Worcester County Public Schools. Prior to becoming the principal at PES, he served as the assistant principal here for eight years. He is a firm believer in the importance and benefits of being a lifelong learner. He earned an Associate’s Degree in music from The Community College of Philadelphia, a Bachelor’s of Science in elementary education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s of Education Degree in school administration, and a Master’s of Education Degree in school counseling from Wilmington University of Delaware. In addition, he holds a Post Master’s Certificate in applied technology in education from Wilmington University, where he has also recently received his Doctor of Education in School Leadership and Supervision.


Melissa Freistat, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Freistat comes to Pocomoke Elementary School with 14 years of experience in Worcester County Public Schools. She began her career in education as a fifth grade teacher at Pocomoke Middle School. From there, she taught fourth grade, then became an instructional coach. Mrs. Freistat transitioned to Pocomoke High School as the school test coordinator. Her career in administration began at Snow Hill High School as the Extended Day Administrator. Mrs. Freistat returned to Pocomoke City as the assistant principal at Pocomoke Elementary School in 2014.

Mrs. Freistat received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Salisbury University. She currently holds a Master’s degree in School Leadership from Wilmington University. Education is her passion and Mrs. Freistat is truly honored to contribute to the success of the students at Pocomoke Elementary School.


Robyn Donoway, Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Donoway graduated from Salisbury University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, and from Wilmington University with a master's degree in school counseling. She has taught at Pocomoke Elementary School for over 20 years as both a 2nd grade classroom teacher and Project Intervene resource teacher. She's been the counselor here since 2005.


Stephanie Taylor, Curriculum Resource Teacher
Mrs. Taylor graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Salisbury University in May of 1990. She majored in biology and minored in chemistry with a concentration in secondary education. Mrs. Taylor had her first position at Snow Hill Middle School teaching 7th grade life science. After 7 years in the classroom, she began working as a Curriculum Resource Teacher where she has been for the past 19 years. Mrs. Taylor obtained her master’s degree in administration in May of 1999. In addition to her experience in Worcester County, Mrs. Taylor has done contractual work for MSDE and has been an adjunct professor at SU.
